For Prisoner of Azkaban, the uniforms were altered to accommodate stormy weather conditions. Goggles and a water-resistant nylon fabric were added which immediately modernised the outfits. Stripes and player numbers were also added which were more in line with contemporary sports uniforms.
In Half-Blood Prince, Quidditch tryouts and training were points of focus so something lighter and simpler was designed, like a warm-up suit. The players’ numbers were also standardized, each number telling which position you were playing whether you were a Beater, Seeker or a Keeper. Padded leather body armour, shoulder protectors and a helmet were added over and above the arm guards and knee pads of earlier uniforms as the sport became more aggressive and the players and filmmakers became more seasoned.
